Buffalo Bake
1 medium Butternut Squash, cubed (about 10 cups)
2 lbs ground lean Buffalo
1 quart canned Tomatoes
2 1/2 tsp freshly ground Sea Salt
1/2 tsp dried Oregano
2 tsp dried Basil
1 tsp dried Parsley
1 Tbsp Olive oil
Mix all the above ingredients in a large casserole dish oiled with olive oil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs, covered. Remove from oven, and separate out approximately 1/4 of the recipe for yourself.
To your portion add:
1/3 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
pepper to taste*
To the remaining buffalo bake (your dog's portion) add:
2 Tbsp Flaxseed Oil
5 tsp bone meal powder
1 tsp Potassium Chloride
Vitamin Mix per label (or dog vitamins as instructed on the substitutions page)
Mix thoroughly. This makes one recipe unit, which will feed a 10 pound dog for a week. See the recipe multiplier at the back of the book for larger dog conversions. Divide into portions and refrigerate.
* To prepare your portion the way I like it, after adding your pepper and cheese put it back in the oven uncovered to lightly brown the top and crisp the cheese. Mmm-mm!
